Here are the 2018-2019 Iowa State Assessment of Academic Progress (ISASP) results for all students tested in grades 3-5 at St. Cecilia. Please note that these are test results from last school year, therefore grade three represents 2019-2020 fourth graders, and so on. We are very pleased that all of our scores are above the State of Iowa average, with the majority of scores being higher than even the Archdiocesan average. Information will be coming soon regarding the spring testing window. https://gallery.mailchimp.com/8adfadd602fd1f2feec1796dd/files/10ceea43-8032-4e36-bb55-713638f8bd4e/ISASP_Data_No_Ames_Public.01.pdf
Snow Boots Effective immediately, students will need snow boots in order to play on the sidewalk or in the snow. Students without boots will still go outside, but will stand next to the building where they can visit with their friends. It is unsafe for students to run around outside without boots given the current weather conditions. If you have questions or if you need a pair of boots for your child, please contact Mrs. Rooney. Thank you!
Speed Stacks Sales Students have been practicing their Speed Stacking in PE and can now have the opportunity to purchase their own sets through our school group order. Speed stacking is a great cross lateral activity to help kids with improving eye hand coordination.
An informational flyer was sent home with your child. Regular set is $20, Pro Series set is $25 and StackMats (mat, timer and gear bag) is $25. Should your child choose to purchase Speed Stacks, we already have the equipment at school and they can immediately take it home on Monday or Tuesdays when Mrs. DuBois is at school. A bonus is that 20% of the sales go back to our school for us to purchase future Speed Stacks equipment and you don't have to pay any shipping. Speed Stack sales will run through January 28th. Should you have any questions, contact Mrs. DuBois at sdubois@stceciliaschoolames.org
FSA Thanks to everyone who came to McTeacher Night; it was such a fun night! We raised over $450 for FSA and since Mrs. Stowell's class had the highest number of attendees, she will recieve $100 for her classroom!
SUNDAY DIVE WITH KATIE PATRIZIO In our Gospel for this upcoming weekend, we hear that Jesus moves to Capernaum. Why and what was first-century Capernaum like? Our Lord calls the first disciples who were fishermen. What was fishing like on the Sea of Galilee? You’ve heard it before, Jesus says the apostles will be “fishers of men.” Is there more to this phrase than meets the eye?
