Creative Kids Club

Calling all artists! Join this after school art class for lots of creative fun. This class meets several times throughout the school year and is for our kindergarten through sixth grade students. The instructor is Tim Read.

Band

The St. Cecilia band program is for fourth and fifth grade students and includes lessons and concert band rehearsals on a once a week basis. The band offers a chance for your student to perform in a team atmosphere while indirectly enhancing your students sense of self reliance and personal responsibility. Playing a musical instrument also has a very positive effect on your students reading and mathematical skills. The band performs at our Christmas and Spring Concerts and is instructed by Emily Malamos.

First Lego League

What is FIRST LEGO League? As described on their website (http://www.firstinspires.org/robotics/fll), FIRST LEGO League is: “Tomorrow’s innovators practice imaginative thinking and teamwork. Guided by two or more adult Coaches, FIRST LEGO League teams research a real-world problem such as food safety, recycling, energy, etc., and are challenged to develop a solution. They also must design, build, program a robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS^® .” FIRST LEGO League is an excellent way for kids to learn critical thinking skills, teamwork, and goal setting while having lots of fun at the same time.

The FIRST LEGO League season runs from late August through mid-December (or January if your team advances to the state competition).  The teams are made up of 2-10 4th-8th graders.  During the season, teams meet twice a week for 2 hours each meeting. There may be some weekend (optional) field trips.
