Dear Parents,
Thank you for considering a Saint Cecilia education for your child. As a grandparent and former student of elementary Catholic school through eighth grade, I know how important these early educational decisions are for building a strong foundation for your child's future. For almost 100 years, St. Cecilia School has earned its exceptional reputation in the Ames area for its high academic standards, welcoming community of families, and faith-nurturing environment.
Saint Cecilia School is fully accredited and regularly reviewed by the Iowa Department of Education. All our teachers are state certified and work with the Archdiocese of Dubuque to develop a challenging academic curriculum that meets or exceed standards of the Iowa Core. Additionally, our faculty participates in year-round professional development and many hold graduate level degrees in education.
While we are certainly proud of our academic reputation, our greatest strength is in the faith-filled environment that surrounds your child at our school. The day begins and ends in prayer and Christian values are woven naturally throughout the day. Catholic schools offer young people the possibility of a daily encounter with Jesus Christ within the context of the highest quality education. One of the ways students are raised to be active participants in their faith is by planning and serving at 9:00 a.m. Thursday mass in the parish. I invite you to attend this special liturgy!
One of our main goals on the Catholic School Board is maintaining our high standards while keeping the costs to attend St. Cecilia School affordable. Please do not let finances prevent you from considering Saint Cecilia School-approximately 30% of our families receive tuition assistance of some sort. Our principal, Mr. Ervin Rowlands and his administrative staff are here to help you obtain all assistance for which you may qualify. Regardless of religioius affiliation, all families are welcome to apply for need-based scholarships from the Student Tuition Organization and from the parish tuition assistance fund. We also participate in the federally supported free and reduced lunch program.
Our goal at Saint Cecilia School is to nuture your child's God-given gifts and talents and build a lifelong love of learning. If you have any questions about what it is like to be a part of Saint Cecilia School community, please don't hestiate to call me or any other Catholic School Board member. I encourage you to prayerfully consider Saint Cecilia School.
Sincerely,
Carol J. Bond
